First, we need to understand that there are 3 encounters every person must have in order to OBTAIN AND ENJOY true Kingdom prosperity.
- Encounter with Jesus Christ – John 3:16; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.
- Encounter with Holy Spirit – John 16:13; “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
- Encounter with God’s Word – 2 Timothy 2:15; “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
What does the Bible say about Kingdom prosperity?
3rd John 2,
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth”.
Genesis 17:6 (KJV)
“And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee”.
2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV)
“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich”.
There are 5- levels of Kingdom Prosperity
- Spiritual prosperity
- Mental prosperity
- Emotional Prosperity
- Financial prosperity
- Relational Prosperity
According to God’s Kingdom, the person considered wealthy is the one with qualifications of all of the above.
Let us look at each one of individually.
1. Spiritual Prosperity – This is the highest level of prosperity.
Spiritual prosperity is an independent spiritual confidence where we have assurance to be relieved from obstacles such as from pain, sorrow, loss, grief, and fears through the Name of Jesus Christ. Everyone person whether rich, poor, healthy or wealth is vulnerable to these attacks by the devil while on the earth.
It is only God who can deliver man from these issues and enable him /her to live a spiritually prosperous life.
The 3 eminent spiritual needs of mankind
- A need for security
This is an awareness of being unconditionally and totally loved without needing to change in order to win love. It is a love that is freely given and cannot be earned and cannot be lost. Only God can provide this type of love. A healthy person desires to feel wanted, accepted, and being cared for and enjoyed.
Jesus said, “. . . I came that they might have life and might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b). This kind of life is described by apostle Paul in Galatians 5:22-23. He calls it “the fruit of the spirit” This includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Whenever and Individual start producing this fruit, they start feeling safe or secure in Christ Jesus.
- A need for significance / self-worth
Everyone wants to feel worth. We want to have a significant impact on the lives of others. A man senses worthiness when others approve of him / her.
We have to accept and understand that we have been made worth of all blessings by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. That we are significant figures in the Kingdom of God because of the blood of Jesus.
- A need for sufficiency.
This is the feeling of competency, or adequacy, courage, hopefulness and strength to carry out the tasks of daily life situations.
It is the “I can do it” feeling of being able to face life and cope with it. This sense of sufficiency may rest on our past accomplishments or present sense of achievement.
Satan has deceived many to believe that they can ONLY get their needs met by their intelligence, family inheritance or even by winning a lottery somehow. Jesus spoke to this issue in Luke 16:15 when He said, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.”
Jesus Christ alone is able to satisfy all the needs – security, significance and sufficiency. Apostle Paul said it well in Ephesians 3:20; “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,…”
As we make ourselves available to God, He will satisfies our human cravings and supplies our inner personal needs according to His riches in Glory through Christ Jesus..
2. Mental Prosperity.
When it comes to mental Prosperity, you need to outsource your believe systems and allow the Word of God transform the way you think. If you grew up with poverty mentality, you are likely to think poor. If you do not educate your soul your soul in this area, you will have deficit financially.
How does one prosper in his or her soul?
By studying, meditating, and declaring God’s Word over your situation.
Ephesians 4:22-32 declares; “But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 neither give place to the devil. 28Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you”.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.
Joshua 1:8 (KJV)
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”.
Mental prosperity must start with mental transformation. Bankruptcy of mental transformation is detrimental to the prosperity of any person including born again Christians. We must invest in knowledge of God’s Word (truth) in order to have faith for what God has promised us in His Word.
In fact, you can be born from a rich or wealthy family and acquire great wealth but if you lack knowledge of God’s Word, you will have spiritual deficit of the wisdom of God to handle that wealth.
Wisdom and understanding are the greatest kingdom keys to sustaining Kingdom wealth. Favor can bring wealth to you, but it is the wisdom of God that delivers the transformation ability to maintain that wealth.
Proverbs 4:5-9 KJV
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: She shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: A crown of glory shall she deliver to thee”.
Mental prosperity includes revelation knowledge, mental abilities beyond our own, and an intelligent mind until the day we go home to heaven. We must learn to cast down all evil imaginations and bring into control our own thoughts think, meditate and only say what God says.
Things we must purpose to do in order to enjoy the Kingdom wealth and abundance.
- Focus on doing good everywhere you go
Jesus went about doing good.
The more good you do, the more territories you conquer. Jesus never waited for anyone to say thank you neither did he waste his time on those who did not appreciate his good works. He just kept on doing good. That was the secret of his fame. He woke up every morning with the determination to go about doing good. Stop listening to ingrates. Stop listening to critics. The devil purposely stations them on your path to distract and slow you down.
I was a victim of distraction for long before I caught this revelation. I wasted so much time on those who despised and discredited my good works and intentions. I was always bothered over those who never said, thank you. If Jesus behaved the same way, he would not have recorded much success.
My motto now is KEEP DOING GOOD INTENTIONALLY AND CONSISTENTLY. Do not let one good wear out before you do another one. Mount up one good upon another until it becomes as high as Mount Kilimanjaro. This is a vital key to prosperity.
- Make every effort to share the blessings with others as the Lord blesses and leads you!
When God blesses you, practice to share the blessings with others. Do not give others left over. Practice giving the best you have. Do you know it is not right to give out broken and dilapidated things? If you truly desire prosperity, you must learn this rule. It keeps you mentally fresh knowing what you give to people will still be useful for them. As you learn the lifestyle of
sharing God’s blessings with others, God will keep increasing you.
- Stop criticizing wealth and wealthy people.
You do not see good in anything you criticize. To criticize means to find fault with, to judge harshly and unfavorably. If you keep criticizing wealth, you will equally chase away wealthy people. Those who truly desire to help you will be put off by your utterances. God made Solomon rich. Job’s righteousness made him the richest. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were all wealthy and God says, I am their God. Poverty is not of God and also not for God’s people.
God said to Abraham, those who bless you, I will bless and those who curse you, I will curse. When you criticize the blessed, you will put holes in your pocket. Notice here that I did not say those who are rich but those who are blessed. The blessed are higher than the rich. The blessed are those God has favored. Find out how and what they did to cut God’s Favor instead of criticizing them.
- Ask God for what you need (Matthew 7:7)
God who owns the heavens and the earth is willing to give you the desires of your heart. Your Heavenly father is rich and influential and you can ask Him whatever you desire according to the Scripture and He will give it to you (John 15:7).
Once you have honored the Lord in your giving, you a candidate for the blessings of the Lord. For once, ask God for what your salary cannot afford you. What your parents cannot afford you. What your spouse cannot afford you. You will be shocked that God is ready to bless you beyond your imagination.
Stop belaboring yourself over money. Tell God exactly what you need, and you will be amazed at his mighty power of provision. Abundance is your portion. Adjust your mentality and all shall be well with you in Jesus’ name.
Start asking for things that will make your life comfortable. God is faithful and he answers prayers.
The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20; (KJV)
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us…”
3. Emotional prosperity
According to 3 John 2, Your prosperity is contingent to your soul aligning up with your spirit. You are a spirit, you have a soul (mind, emotions and will) and you live in a body.
What does it mean to be prosperous in your emotions?
You may have renewed your mind to God’s Word, but if your emotions are not controlled by your recreated spirit, your ability to believe and activate your faith will be hindered or stopped.
Emotional prosperity is the ability to harness, control and have authority over negative emotions. Emotions are inner feelings caused by pain or pleasure, lack (financial pressure) which can eventually if not dealt with can affect your destiny.
Galatians 5:16, that we have authority over our emotions. Colossians 1:27 says, the anointing is in your spirit. Negative emotions will promote unbelief. Unbelief stops faith from being activated. Example: Anxiety over your finances or your health, will stop your faith from receiving God’s blessing in your life.
Ephesians. 2:8 declares that You are saved through God’s grace by your faith. Romans 14:17, The Kingdom of God is in you.
The natural man thinks that emotions are a by-product of current circumstances. If the circumstance is negative, you respond with negative emotions. If the circumstance is positive, you respond with positive emotions.
You cannot believe in God and have a troubled heart which is influenced by negative emotions. If you believe in the love of God for you, fear or negative emotions will have NO place in you – Why?
1 John 4:18 (KJV)
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love”.
You can have faith to believe God as the savior of your spirit, but negative emotions will stop you from believing God is the savior of your physical life.
Romans 8:6 (KJV) says;
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”.
To be spiritually minded means you have chosen to immerse your soul with the anointing of Christ which is your spirit by meditating on and declaring God’s Word.
What you think on and speak will determine the state of your emotions. First words set the stage for your emotions to respond in a positive or negative. A carnal mind dominated by physical senses, will influence your emotions to react contrary to God’s will for your life. Receive the love of God for you today and you shall be amazed at the blessings that shall flow in your life.
4. Financial prosperity
I am aware that the message of financial prosperity has been carried to the extreme by some, but I must tell you God desires his children to do well in this area. If you have a house or a car, you well know that it takes money to maintain them. Your own self requires tremendous amount of finances to maintain especially when we include food, clothing, and other health essentials.
God knows we need money here on the earth. Money is the earthly monetary currency to run our daily businesses.
God wants us to have money for three fundamental reasons:
- To fund Kingdom work. To “go into all the world and preach the gospel” takes money!
- To provide well for our own household. God has called us to work to provide for our families and live a comfortable life.
- To subdue the earth. To have dominion on the earth, we should be controlling most of the resources. For example, if you don’t like the immorality posted on the billboard outside your office, here is the answer: Own the billboard. If the magazines in the store are offensive: believe God to own your own clean magazines. That’s how you subdue the earth.
We need to align our thinking about wealth with God’s Word. When we do that, we can effectively operate within His system. Ladies and gentlemen, God has created a wealth-generating system that cannot fail!
5. Relational Prosperity
God’s doorway to financial breakthrough!
Nearly everything that comes into your life—good or bad—comes through the vehicle of relationships. When God wants to bring blessing, increase, instruction, or encouragement to you, He’ll almost always use a relationship to do it.
We need to understand that all blessings come from God through men to man.
The Bible says in Luke 2:52, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
According to this Word, there are three qualities God wants your relationships to exhibit. (1) Wisdom (2) Stature – Growing in stature means developing physically and developing a reputation as well) and (3) Favor. If you use your faith to cultivate these qualities, you’ll you will accumulate great favor in your relationships causing a wide-open door of blessing.
When God wants to bless you financially, He’ll move on someone’s heart to be the instrument of that blessing. That is why people that God sends to you are so important and we must NOT take them for granted. They might be your destiny helpers send by God to you in the season you are in.
When God wants to encourage you, He sends a brother or sister in Christ to put an arm around you, give you a squeeze and say, “I sure do appreciate you.” We must learn to discern who God is using to be a blessing to you in your season.
The 4 main Principles that Govern Kingdom Prosperity
Principle #1 Love God with all of your heart
The key to having God’s “abundant life” and experiencing His love, peace and joy is by keeping His commandments.
John 14:15-17 (KJV)
“If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you.
God said to Abraham, …Walk [habitually] before Me [with integrity, knowing that you are always in My presence], and be blameless and complete [in obedience to Me] (Genesis 17:1 AMP).
Notice that God instructed Abraham to be habitual in walking with Him and living for Him.
We can do this by establishing daily habits of prayer, worship and having regular / consistent time spent in His Word.
There are so many things that clamor for our attention and devotion like our jobs, our kids, our spouses, our hobbies—the demands and distractions of life that we do NOT have humble time to spend in the presence of God. We have to be careful not to let these things become more important or more of a priority than our relationship with God.
Deuteronomy 6:5 (NKJV)
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”
Deuteronomy 8:18-20 (KJV)
“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
NOTE: The Bible does not say God makes you wealthy; it says He will give you the power to produce wealth. That means, He will always give you something to put your hands to, grant you wisdom, anoint your ability, and bless you when you remain obedient to His commands.
Benefits of keeping God first in our lives
When you decide to serve God with all of your heart and make Him first in your life, your soul will prosper, and your joy and peace will increase. God doesn’t expect you to live for Him in your own strength or ability, and He understands when you make mistakes.
What about if I mess up?
So, if you mess up, don’t be discouraged and let it hold you back; confess it and keep going. God will give you grace to do what you need to do.
Matthew 6:38 (KJV)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
Principle #2 Love God’s people wholeheartedly
Like I said earlier, we must understand that all blessings come from God through man to man (Luke 6:38). When we genuinely love people, we are siding with God in His law of love.
I John 4:20-21 states that: If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
Jesus said: A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. John 13:34-35.
What this Scripture is saying is that, if we do not love one another, we are not truly disciples of Jesus, in spite of what we might proclaim.
Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:5 that “…The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. The love of God, is pure, uncontaminated, and self-sacrificing. We must love with this love which is so intense that it caused the Father to send His Son as a sacrifice for our sin.
If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. (I John 4:12)
Matthew 22:39-40 (NKJV)
“…And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Principle # 3: Understand that you are blessed for Kingdom assignment
Genesis 12:2 (KJV)
“And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:”
Serving God gives us a fulfilling life. Countless people serve, yet they miss the reason why they are blessed with work. This results to them living uncontented and ungrateful life. They serve as if they are doing God a favor and it is a chore or burden. Serving God is a rich blessing. It is so tragic that many who do good works have never caught on to the true meaning of serving God.
Job 36:11.
“If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.”
Those who obey and serve the Lord will have a rich and meaningful life. They will spend their days in prosperity and their years will be rewarded with pleasures. The writer expounds on the richness that comes from serving God. On the other hand, he also writes about the penalty that comes from disobedience. You will find that in chapter twelve. We can say, “Oh, the joys that come to those who serve to the glory of God.”
What a blessing it is, to be used by Him. May you find great delight in serving God. Take the time, today, to renew your commitment to serve Him for the rest of your life regardless of the heartaches and disappointments that may come. It will all be worth it at the end. I pray you will be able to say, “I am thankful that God has granted to me the opportunity to be a part of His family”. You will find out that when you do this, Kingdom wealth will start flowing your way.
Principle #4: Whatever you do, do it as unto to the Lord – Work as unto for the Lord
One of the fundamental principles of Marketplace Christianity is working as for the Lord.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NKJV)
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[a] you serve the Lord Christ”.
This revelation is so powerful that if even one person at the lowest level job gets it, it can change an entire company.
Why is this principle so powerful?
#1 Because whenever a believer works as for the Lord, a revival happens in his or her heart, and then it spreads to those around him.
#2 Working as unto for the Lord invites the presence of God into a job / business. When God shows up, things have to change.
Matthew 5:14-16(KJV)
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”.
#3: Working as unto the Lord causes one to gain possessions God’s way.
Psalm 44:3-5 (NKJV)
“For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them. 4 You are my King, [a]O God; [b]Command victories for Jacob. 5 Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us”.
The world works out of selfishness, pride and greed, rarely love. Working from a heart of love makes us like a light set on a hill:
